With her formal education in art and art history, Virginia Strom Precourt kept her creative options in constant motion. In the morning, she would rise to the challenge of a blank piece of paper and a graphite pencil. The resulting illustrations served as the first fragmentary drafts of what would become, in time, a more evolved piece of art. Her subjects often were random, moving from this student—intent on her piccolo music lessons—at the Cyclorama in the South End of Boston to the Himalayan mountains.
